This was a tough one – we went back and forth for a while on this one. Lighting was beautiful and moody in the first place image. The portrait was simple but very well executed and relevant to our news cycle. Second place seems technically perfect. The incredible balance on the lighting between the background and the subject. Attention to detail is apparent – good job of not getting the reflection of your lights in her glasses. Third place was a great story. The caption really elevated this image.
