We were hesitant to place the COVID births package as first place because we felt that it needed a much tighter edit. Ultimately we decided the package contained the strongest images and showed really good access and a a level of newsorthyness that stood out. Second place was a really good moment. A better composition (either going tighter with the hand being cropped out more or leaving the whole hand in) might have elevated it. Third place showed the conflicting views well.
