1st We thought this entry had many nice images. Well-rounded. Color, light. Visually interesting. However, the captions had much to be desired. We couldn't grasp why the photographer wouldn't use people's names for some images where they were obviously standing right next to the photographer.
2nd A nice collection of images from a tree bonfire. A tighter edit would have made this an even stronger entry. We understand how easy it is to fall in love with big flames, but sometimes you've gotta be ruthless.
3rd Another essay which, if edited much tighter, could have been a contender for a higher spot. A viewer doesn't have to see every step in the process.
