1st: Photos from Venezula were far and away the best photo essay entered. We assume the story is about the funeral industry there; captions just ID the subject matter without giving any story context. 2nd: Nice to see a journalist staying with a story long-term. Good photos. 3rd: Good daily coverage, but it's not really a photo essay. Overall: The 1st-place entry was fantastic. Unbelievable access and excellent visual reporting.
