We felt that the soft light emphasized the emotion and body language on the main subject, and felt that covering the drill was a cool idea. Second place was a nice image, but the image might placed higher with a more well-rounded out caption. Third place helped illustrate one of the most significant news stories of 2019 in an interesting and graphic way while giving the viewer insight into the scale of the grounded planes.
