We chose the first place group of images because it demonstrates the photographer's ability to get to an active spot news scene in time to make action photos. The package would have been stronger without the last photo. The second place image also demonstrates being in the right place, but the moment isn't as strong. Third place is a nicely lit moment however it's after the news event is over.
