First place - photographer got down low, which brought emotion into the scene. Enjoyed the foreground of work gloves and the nice embrace with the animal. Second place Picnic table - body language is powerful. It's quiet but he looks so tired, exhausted by the flood. We thought some better sense of scale would have helped, in terms of how much water there really is. Two guys walking third place - good sense of place and destruction, but wish the subjects were closer perhaps or there was a central focus to the image, but the scene is powerful. Some of the other images that didn't win were from tornado damage, but either lacked moments, emotion or sense of place.
