An interesting angle and a lighthearted moment eventually carried the first place entry to its top place finish. With this image, though, as well as a number of others we considered in this category and others, our impressions were tempered by incomplete caption information and a lack of context. Second place is a nicely-executed moment complimented by terrific natural lighting and framing by the photographer. Third place also featured a natural moment which we liked, but again, we found ourselves hoping for a little more backstory.
