Judges Comments

First place was unanimous on this one. The wide, complete frame; the use of the plane wing to draw your eye to focal point. It was interesting and made you feel the poignancy of the moment. The photo of the protester with a megaphone felt like a true news photo. You can see his immediate emotion and the environment. The photo story of the family in low-income housing had strong journalistic elements but needed a little more variety and/or context.
