An interesting point to make here, again, about captions. Realizing that contests are usually entered into the month after the pictures are made, details of news photos could be gotten, to round out the information. This shooting photo is arresting, but there is only vague caption info. Was it her nephew that was shot? Was he killed? Just something to think about. 1st, Some of the toughest assignments we have as journalists, spot news, in particular where there is death, tests all our training and then some. This photo of a woman wondering if her nephew was killed, captures the emotion and with dramatic light. 2nd, The photographer captured the damage and the human toll, with worry on the woman's face, possibly wondering what happens next.
