Judges Comments

The first place image was both technically and compositionally beautiful. You can feel the emotion. Second place, another vigil photo, was beautiful as well. We appreciated that the photographer got the name of the young child. We wanted to make a point with the third place entry. The photographer entered multiple images for the one entry. There were many redundant images that lessened the strength of the entry. We would have chosen one or two images at most. 05, 08, 09 were the best frames. Also, this should have been in spot news, not general news. This was not a planned news event. But, the strength of the category was weak.
