First place immediately rose to the top by its quirky nature, moment and composition. Normally spot news, we see why the photographer played it here – not necessarily serious in nature, a good slice of life. Second place is an effective silhouette with each element cut out and gorgeous colors to boot. Nitpick: A crop on the left and right would help tighten this up a bit (remove two people left and post on the right). Third place was a bold juxtaposition that had one judge chuckling immediately.
