We were instantly drawn to the emotion in the first place image. We think it could have been cropped in from the right and the bottom just a little bit to keep the viewer's eye on the mourning mother. The second and third place images were well-crafted and made in situations that aren't always the most visual. We appreciated that the captions for all the winning images provided names and were informative.
