First place was the best picture story of the Bush funeral that was submitted. The pictures were not redundant, and the photographer had a strong vision even though they were not at the funeral ceremony itself. The second place photographer was up close with a lot of the asylum seekers and had a good collection of strong news pictures. Third place had a common theme but wish the narrative was stronger - perhaps focusing on one or two specific people to capture more intimate moments.
