There were some powerful moments between family members that made it into the top 5. The wife and her husband suffering from ALS really set the mood in this category as it stood out over the others. The young homeless girl peering into a laundromat washing machine was cute and well composed. It also had a nice news peg. The full moon and Cascades was simple, clean and not overdone. We did want to give mention to the photos of parents of a premature baby and the Hurricane Florence victim and her dog. Both had nice interactions between subjects. We also want to note there were some feature photos in the feature stories category that would have been in the running here.
