Surprised to see this wasn’t a stronger category. The ones that surfaced showed a bit more complexity than the environmental portrait that we are accustomed to. We like the clean and composed aspect of the first place photo. The photographer backed off with a little longer lens and framed the subject with the outdoor elements. Would have liked to see his face in the sunlight a bit more. Second place was a little out of the ordinary with the mutton busters. We liked it for all those uncertain faces. Third place was just quirky and lit differently to place it.
