Judges Comments

First: We found this image to be storytelling, relevant, and expressive. The photographer was able to capture the subject’s genuine expression in the midst of destruction caused by Hurricane Michael. We felt the environment contributed to the audience’s understanding of the two individuals. Second: This image is well composed and every bit of the frame contributes information. The bold and repeating colors capture the mood of football. The lower angle is a unique perspective that is hard to pull off, but in this instance, it works. The subject’s expression is relaxed and engaged. Third: We appreciated how the photographer found an off-moment during a pretty routine high school sportrait and was able to make a crisp and clean frame.
