We were impressed by the quality of the portrait submitted in this category. Many of the entries had a great command of light. First place was a great idea that was executed really well. The split background was quite unique that made it stand out. Second place was lit really well and captured the expressions of the subjects really well. The photographer also picked a good lens to compress the background to make it a full image. Third place really captured the mood well with the lighting. It also had many layers with details that added to the image.
