First place had the most moments and most compelling story despite an edit that felt off. After staring at it for a while, we started to see how with a smart print edit and display the story could really sing, so perhaps it just suffers in this judging format. Second is solid coverage of the event, with redundancies that hurt the overall presentation. Third place starts well, in the early morning darkness, but ends poorly. It really feels like a one-day “good start” on what could be a much better piece.
