Judges Comments

1st: Tyree quickly rose to the top, each time we passed by, it had punch. Lighting is on, newsworthiness, balance, mood and completeness made this the clear winner. 2nd: Crowder was well-executed, had nice light and drew us in with the eyes. One judge was completely opposite and felt the head melded too much with the background and could have been better executed if shot lower bringing that head above the black background and shoulders fill that white space better. Overall, the lighting is nice and made for a sincere portrait, hence placing. 3rd: Fatherhood was a tender moment in nice light. However, it suffered in judging from the tilting of the frame. As a portrait it unjustified horizon lines can hurt the communication. Never let style get in the way of content, was the collective feeling of the judges.
