This was a good category to judge. There was a wide variety of images, many which caught the eye and we required a lot of discussion to reach a decision. More than a half dozen rose to the top in our first couple scans of the entries. To get that far images had to have both technical and aesthetic appeal. The final test was looking for storytelling moments. First pulled everything together, an undeniable aesthetic appeal composed perfectly and the spot on moment. Second place was a touching image in an emotional context. The image just needed a bit of help in the crop to clean up the background. Third place was a heartwarming moment that caught our eye and held up against the other finalists.
