A category with many great story lines. But even the winners seemed to have redundant photographs in their collection. We awarded first place to a set of photographs of the turnaround of a homeless father and his son. There was a depth of meaning to most of the photographs. Second place captured a community struggling with violent crime around its tourism industry and we liked the human dignity the photographer gave a girl with a rare disease in the third place entry.
