The first and second place photos were close in this category. The reason we chose the first place photo was that the photographer took a less expected approach to capturing warm weather. The second place winner had the strongest moment out of all of the entries, but we wish that the photo went a little beyond an expected moment. We agreed that third place winner shot a well composed image that we would be happy to use in the next day’s paper.
