Spot news had an extremely low entry number with many of thephotos looking almost the same, which made it hard to judge. Firstplace photo has an eerie contrast to it, with an investigator on thescene of a homicide that took place in a cemetery. It also was a nice use of framing. Second place was chosen due to the symmetry and repetition in composition and just made for a more interesting fire photo on a scene that can be mundane if overshot. Third goes to another well framed image from a bus crash that seemed to be consciously composed amidst a chaotic scene, but could have been cropped a bit better.
