Judges Comments
First place is a superior set of pictures from an intensely emotional event. Kudos to the photographer for capturing the emotion without getting booted from the scene. The picture of the mom on the phone and the image of the mom in the SUV after the shooting are both amazing. The rest of the pictures provide context without diluting the package. Second place is a well reported story from the front lines in Mosul. Third place is a strong single, also from a shooting.
