First Place helps to drive home the precariousness of the deadly wreck. The light helps direct your attention, and there is a lot of good content. It has a great mix of aesthetics, news and story. Second Place, while we happened to know who created it, the photos had an intensity and moment that helps put us in the middle of that conflict. It has power and symbolism. Third Place is an interesting unexpected look at how someone examines their home. It puts the viewer inside at water level in that confined space.
