Editors Note: Peak action is not a feature sports image. There were multiple images (skiing mostly) that likely would have placed had they been entered in the correct category. 1st: The moment before the moment. Makes the viewer feel like they're right there next to the athlete with the tight shot. 2nd: Fantastic angle and light for a unique subject. Could have used an ever so slightly different composition to keep the hand and lane line from overlapping. 3rd: Great reaction and interaction (or attempt of) the crowd with the players. Also, the bold colors draw the viewer straight to the subject matter.
