First place was a quick pick for use. So many times we are told to keep our photos clean, and this one is full of distractions. One judge commented that it was like playing “Where’s Waldo” trying to find the subject. But it works well. Sometimes our lives, especially those of an artist are hectic and this showed it well. Second was lit very nicely. Third was good portrait. We commented that again it seemed to break some of the rules, having the subject’s head dead center in the frame. But we thought that is also what made this photo good. With the subject being a sheriff standing in front of the jail you want that rigid formal look.
