The DC Protest and Valero Diamond Pipeline protest photos included some strong spot news images. Unfortunately they were packaged together with some standard general news-type photos. Therefore they didn’t make the cut into the top three of the spot news category. Winner was the clear-cut favorite. Nice duo of images showing the cause and effect of pepper spray. Strong images of a spot news situation that broke out at a general news event. Second and third place were pretty standard spot news images. We were curious to see other photos from the bus wreck, maybe something that showed the kids stuck on the bus. But good job explaining in the caption.
