First place was a nice in many ways. The light, the juxtaposition of the portrait in the background, the age of his jacket. Second place tugged at the heart strings. You see her struggle, the viewer is immediately engaged with the subject. Though not the strongest of images, the pure joy in the third place image pushed it ahead of a couple other contenders.
