This was the toughest category to judge. Why? There were many, many photos, but very few really great pieces. Most of the essays didn't show much in terms of depth. Every photo in the essay must complement the overall project. Having a single great photo and ten other ok shots, does not a great photo essay make. The top three showed a variety of images that captured the overall project in an interesting way. Second place could have used a far tighter edit, but the images were all strong on their own. Third place had really great photos with a very tight edit. Nicely done
