Overall, the submissions in this category desperately needed a good photo editor. There were multiple entries that were way too drawn out. This advice goes to our second place winner as well. It had 30images (!!!) total. In our opinion, that is way too large for a one day rodeo event. We decided to award it based off of the images we saw that were well done. The photographer did seem to get around and interact with all parts of the rodeo, but that could have been shown in much less. The first place winner showed a good sense of place, but we felt that it was generally lacking more active images. The third place winner needed a stronger narrative. We enjoyed the first image due to the different perspective, but as we continued to look at the other images in the series we started to lose interested due to a lack of focus.
