The funeral-themed room portrait revealed much of the picture subject’s character and the story behind her interesting furnishings. It was nicely composed and well-lit. The “rebuilding” picture provided a good sense of place within the subject’s home and her story. Third place, the lit portrait of a local Olympic hopeful, had nice lighting but we were less a fan of the cinderblock wall background (and the flash’s spill onto it). The honorable mention of the oil businessman was an interesting and graphical environmental portrait. We wish we had more insight into who the subject is or why he was photographed where he was.
