This was a category that contained many average, everyday shots that we would expect from spot news. First place stood out immediately. Great emotion from a standoff situation. Second place showed nice composition with the police officers gun and nice light on the suspect sitting in the car. There was another entry that was similar to this one, but it didn't have as nice lighting on the suspect. Third place had nice composition from a traffic accident involving a rollover. We would have liked it cropped tighter from above.
