The strength of the spot news category has always been a hit or miss based entirely on how much “news” occurred in your coverage area. This month looked pretty good with firefighters in a strong lead over the rest of the images. We think, and hope you agree, that the images chosen embody some of the best aspect of good spot news coverage through the impact of the moment and the mood and feel produced in a story-telling moment. Some scenes can be beautiful and horrifying at once.
