Judges Comments

This was a disappointing category to judge. Local sports coverage is probably very important to readers and better efforts should be made to keep your readers coming back to you. We thought toning of most of the photos in this category was poor. The top three had the best peak moments. First place had a lot of action and expression and body language. We liked that. Second place was very difficult to look at but very difficult to look away. We wondered if she was injured on the play. Third place had a great peak moment but would have placed higher if it was cropped tighter. We would have cropped down to the four hands, the ball smacking the face, the flying rubber pellets and the flying hair. Help the viewer feel the pain.
