The vast majority of the entries in this category were just too late to
capture any real sense of urgency. Lots of cops standing around
looking at stuff may be necessary for the daily paper, but it rarely
makes for compelling, storytelling, visuals. First place was a
powerfully emotional image with clear news value. Second was the
best reaction image in the group, with strong faces and body
language and sense of context. Third needed a tighter edit. We saw
two images, the overall from the side for context and the victim being
helped, alone that were particularly strong and gave us enough to
place the entry, but the remaining images were not helping.
