Judges Comments

We chose the school closure day feature story as first place for how well the photojournalist worked the scene in a probably short time. There was variety of lens width, strong storytelling moments and emotions. Would lend itself well to a page design. The campaign party moment feels like we're getting a peek behind the scenes at an authentic election night moment that isn't manufactured for the cameras. The police shooting conference image is emotional, effective and technically sound.
