Jon Menell - Really a strong piece that developed nicely and presented multiple conflicting views engagingly and effectively. Strong moments and choices made in delivering a complex daily news portrait.

Becca Habegger - The pacing is phenomenal. This story is rife with natural sound, which the photographer/editor allowed to surface and breathe. The editing choices render a fairly told story, giving weight and respect to both sides. The scope of this piece is also impressive; it both takes us into the thick of the protest and places us on the outskirts, allowing us to hear from those participating as well as those watching. We also took into consideration the sheer volume of video and sound the photographer/editor had to cull down to edit this same-day package. To do that and create such a high-quality, compelling piece is noteworthy.

Jon Menell - This piece was a room favorite. Great pace and structure for comic effect. Felt like every possible element of the story was capitalized on with terrific harmony between writing, shooting, and editing. A daily assignment that was crafted into a real treat.

Becca Habegger - The visual reveal in this story was craftily laid out. The photographer/editor whetted our appetites with surveillance video and the man's description of what happened, and - finally -we see the damage to the truck. Much humor in this fun and clever piece comes from editing choices, allowing the men’s incredulous comments to punctuate the tracking. “Probably can’t put that on TV.”-- loved the choice to keep in this bite and “break the fourth wall.” What likely started as a tip about an unbelievable bear break-in was turned, through skillful editing, into a substantial and enjoyable piece.

Jon Menell - Nicely paced and worked shots and sound to cover the subject with humor and scope. Very solid all around. Another strong entry that felt like it made the most of its story and elements.

Becca Habegger - The edits were well-paced in this piece, especially in their interaction with the tracking and soundbites. Lots of background sounds that were skillfully and smoothly blended. Good variety of shots to showcase the main character: that inanimate object, the beloved carpet. Fun, engaging piece.
