First Place: “Fighting to Sing” was our first-place choice with no hesitation. It is nicely lit and shot at an angle that gives the viewer a sense of place. The cutline also had great info to supplement the image. Second Place: The even light and pops of red color made “Urban Farmer” stand out to us. This cutline was also well written and helped explain the meaning behind the photo. Third Place: “Crayons” is a colorful portrait, which is fitting for a story about crayons. We like the expression on the subject's face and appreciate how she's not looking directly at the camera. Alternate: The photo of the dog in “Shenanigans” made us smile. The cutline did not need the last generic sentence about English bulldogs, it seemed unnecessary.
