First Place: “Fatal Plane Crash” was the best photo of the bunch. We thought the crime-scene tape helped frame the onlookers and made the photo more interesting. Second Place: The photographer uniquely captured the aftermath of a severe wildfire is displayed in “Peru.” The emptiness and colors of the destruction make it a beautiful photo. Alternate: We feel like “School Bus Accident” could have placed if it was just a single-image entry. But, we do appreciate how the photographer worked their way around the scene to make the most of it.
