The judges were disappointed with the amount of images that lacked a pictorial or slice of life aspect, many images would've been better served in GENW. 1. The people walking the plans of their future home immediately rose to the top for the unique scene, the photographers composition with contrasting foreground and background, but avoiding a silhouette, brought us naturally through the frame. 2. Captured a peaceful moment with an expression that is instantly readable. Judges also liked the use of color in the composition that brought us in and anchored us. 3. Judges thought this was a classic daily feature where the photographer did a great job of using their creativity to bring us into the scene and turn a regular daily assignment into a beautiful photo.
HM: The absurdity and fun of the photo made us stop and look. We thought while the composition was simple it did a good job of capturing a unique event and an interesting subject.
