1. The brewery owner portrait drew the judges in with its dramatic light on a theatrical bright curtain, and artistic mural. The layering of the portrait did a lot to bring us in and make us interested in who the subject was and the space. The judges thought the photo said "the shows just starting." 2. A very zen photo, geometrically interesting, with lots of satisfying shapes. The judges said its balance and smart composition with a wide angle lens for a portrait made it more unique among the other submissions.
Judges didn't find it appropriate among the submissions to award a third place.
