First place was one of those entries where a judge will yell out "first place" upon seeing it and everyone agrees. Good job by the photographer to capture a technically-challenging photo that is dynamic, respectful and storytelling.
Second place: the judges recognized the effort of the photographer to show the side of law enforcement in regards to immigration enforcement. The series needed a tighter edit. One judge noted too many photos of officers walking back to their cars.
Third place: judges enjoyed the layering and composition of the image and could tell it may have been a tough lighting situation but the photographer came through.
Alternate: Pier Engagement captured a moment amongst the chaos of sailors disembarking after deployment.
