First place: the more the judges looked at this image the more they realized the photographer had to work at capturing an image that was backlit. A great example of the rule of thirds also.
Second place: a dynamic image that caused much debate among the judges. If this is what simply came out of the camera, good job. If it was dodged, it was dodged too much. A good weather damage photo nonetheless.
