First Place: “Davis Brothers” stood out to us as a unique portrait. It is lit well for a situation where shadows could be a problem. It's a cool angle and feels different from other portraits we've seen. Second Place: We thought “Erie Canal History” was a neat photo that was lit well. It was a creative way to capture an author without having the subject literally holding their book about the Erie Canal. It could have used a slightly tighter crop from the right. Third Place: The nice light and hand placement in “Wrestler” made this photo unique. It makes the viewer feel like they are part of the action in a wresting competition. Alternate: “Art” was an interesting photo to look at, but we wouldn't consider it a portrait. It's a cool idea, and we wish the photographer had gotten the name of the visitor in the mirror.
