First place was a wonderful portrait of a high school wrestling champion. We liked the attributes of toughness, skill and sacrifice to be a champion that we felt was conveyed by the wrestler's hair covering one eye, played against a jeweled crown and hot-pink fingernails of a youthful competitor. Second place was a powerful portrait at an International Women’s Day event. Third was an engaging artist portrait well framed against her work, a towering environment of more than 16,500 cardboard spoons. HM: A fine portrait that was well lit. Its message was clear.
