Judges were split 2-1 on the first place image. The mood of the photograph was well delivered for a serious/poignant story. The dissenting judge felt the tone of the image was too appropriate but the lens choice was too wide and left too much emotional distance between the viewer and the subject. Second place is a well executed, technically masterful image. Third was a clean image with a composition that complemented the profession of the subject.
