First Place: We were immediately drawn to “Hydrant Shear” with the bright colors. It's a sharp photo captured in a chaotic moment. Second Place: We like the composition and the layers in “Tape Rollover.” The photo is crisp, and it's nice to see everyone involved in the scene. Third Place: “Quake” is a neat way to show the aftermath of an earthquake. We wish the subject was doing something more interesting, like interacting with the photos on the walls. Alternate: “Explosion” is a good “spot news” photo, but we wish the subjects in the photo were doing something more interesting.
