Judges Comments
Spot news can be challenging at times when the photographer is kept back at a distance, but first place was awarded because judges appreciated seeing the eyes of the firefighter during mop up. It beat out other spot photos that had flames or that were more in the moment because we could see who was behind the mask. Second place was an unusual situation, but needed a tighter edit.
